"We have had several come through here, and I think Tra is a special one. A guy that is going to do well at the next level. The main difference between Tra and most of the running backs we have had come through here is his size. He's about 6-foot-2, 225," said Brady. "He is big enough to be durable, but yet fast enough to have break away speed. He has great vision and you are not going to arm tackle him. He's just a complete back."
The Scout.com 3-star running back (No. 79 overall) is fresh off an Iowa visit this weekend, where he reported to HI's Rob Howe the Iowa coaches told him he reminded them of Shonn Greene.
"We spoke briefly about his visit. It was to him a great program. Had some nice things to say about Coach Ferentz. He liked the players he hung out and obviously it's one of the premiere programs in the nation," said Brady. "He's going to take a few more visits before he makes a decision. I know he is going to Oregon this weekend and Kansas and Arkansas in the future. I would hope that as soon as he can get his visits in, he will be ready to make a decision. Maybe sometime in early January."
Carson entered the year as a solid high school running back, he ended it as one of the premiere backs in the state of Texas. Carson finished his senior season with an impressive 1,964 rushing yards and 22 touchdowns.
"I think his speed is underrated. It improved a lot from his junior to senior year. A lot of programs are interested in him off his junior highlights," said Brady. "He's not a LaMichael James as far as speed is concerned, but on a football field his speed is no longer a question.
"If you watch him on the basketball court, you can understand what type of athlete he is.He plays point guard for us and can play down low or outside. He's just an all around athlete. Some college is going to get a great asset."
So what is Carson like off the field?
"He's a good strong leader by example, because he is a quiet reserved kid. He's everything you want in a student athlete. He has great grades, no discipline problems, high character and morals, I can't say enough about him. He was truly a pleasure. The school and community was lucky to have him."
