Glenbard West's (Ill.) defensive tackle Tommy Schutt has over 12 offers. While Iowa is competing with some of the best in the nation for the 2012 prospect, nobody else has a recruiter in his ear at almost all times.
"I talk to him about it all the time. He's definitely wanting me to go there and always telling me stuff about it," said Schutt about his interaction with teammate Jordan Walsh, an Iowa 4-star offensive guard commitment in the 2011 class. "He wants me to visit and make sure I take a good look at it.
At 6-foot-3, 285 pounds, Schutt has already started an aggressive off-season workout plan, with hopes that his body will be completely changed during the 2011 season.
"I'm really starting to hit it hard right now. I'm trying to lose some weight before the start of the season. So I'm really working hard," said Schutt. "I'm trying to get to 275 or so. I think it will make me a little leaner and a faster. Which really make me more mobile.
"Losing a few pounds will really help, but also I'm working on my pass rush and stunts. We are going to try to do some stuff that will help me on the line a bit with some offensive lines we play."
Schutt hopes to have his decision made by the start of his senior year, but is willing to delay if he is not comfortable with a certain school. In previous report, he seems the future big-time defensive tackle is leaning to Iowa or Penn State at this point. Currently he is considering Iowa, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Michigan, Alabama, Illinois, Boston College, Colorado, Michigan State, Nebraska, and others.
