Marvin McNutt has decided to return for his senior season in 2011, according to the University of Iowa Sports Information office.
“I was very happy to learn this morning of Marvin’s intentions to finish his career at Iowa as a senior next fall,” said Ferentz in a released statement.“Marvin has done some tremendous things for our team the past several years and we anticipate him enjoying a very productive year as both a player and team leader in his senior year.”
Last season, McNutt led the Hawkeyes in receptions and receiving yards, racking up 53 catches for 861 yards. He also found the end zone eight times.
McNutt was voted second-team All-Big Ten by the conference's coaches and could be in line for a bigger season next year. McNutt is only one of two receivers who return with major conference experience.
NFLDraftScout.com ranks McNutt as the 10th receiver in the senior class of 2012. While he should continue to grow at the position, he will have to do so without quarterback Ricky Stanzi.
McNutt, Jr. (6-4, 215), a native of St. Louis (Hazelwood Central HS), is the second junior to announce his plans to remain with the Hawkeyes. DB Shaun Prater, a native of Omaha, NE (Central HS), announced earlier in the week that he would also stay with the Iowa program for his final season.
There only two more days for underclassmen to announce their intentions for the NFL draft pool.
