Other schools offered to pay for Travis Perry's college education. It wasn't enough for his to say no to play football at his childhood favorite.
Perry told the Iowa coaches on Wednesday that he would accept a preferred walk-on opportunity with the program. He turned down scholarship offers from Northern Iowa, North Dakota and Eastern Illinois.
"It was tough early in the week trying to figure everything out," the 6-foot-2, 205-pounder said. "I had three offers and it was tough to turn those down. In the end, Iowa is the place I dreamed of growing up. I didn't think I could pass up this opportunity."
