Following a slow start to the late signing period, Iowa has picked up steam. The Hawkeyes on Tuesday signed their second player in the last four days.
Sunrise Christian Academy big man Gabe Olaseni pledged to Iowa after Maryland JUCO Anthony Hubbard pulled the trigger on Saturday. The recent developments left Iowa with one more available scholarship in the 2011 Class.
Iowa learned of Olaseni last fall when they were recruiting his teammate, Eric Katenda. The latter chose Notre Dame on Tuesday ahead of offers from the Hawkeyes and Wake Forest.
The 6-foot-10 Olaseni hails from London and is relatively new to the game, having only begun playing organized basketball for less than four years.
"Gabe is just a pup," Sunrise Coach Kyle Lindsted said on Sunday. "He has all the tools to really be outstanding. He's going to get way, way better."
