Adam Bertke is considered one of the handful of top junior quarterbacks in the Midwest, and he has built that reputation with his arm, but it was his 123 yards rushing and score on the ground, which helped his team defeat Minster 41-34 in the regional semifinal on Friday.
The 6'5, 190-lb Bertke currently has an offer from Toledo and interest coming from several major programs, including Michigan, who he visited on Saturday.
"I've never been to Michigan before," he explained. "I enjoyed it. It was great. I enjoyed their style of offense. I thought the atmosphere was awesome, so I enjoyed it."
There are several junior quarterbacks vying for a Wolverine offer, and Bertke is in the mix.
"They said try to keep getting in front of them, and stay in touch with them, and we'll go from there."
In addition to leading his team to a 10-2 mark, Berkte has been busy getting out to college games this year.
"I went to a couple more games this year. I went to Michigan State, Toledo, Indiana and Notre Dame. I have Cincinnati next week and then go from there and start looking at football camps."
One of his best experiences, he said, was at Notre Dame.
"We saw the BYU game. It was good. Got to see the campus and walk around. The tradition there is unbelievable. I enjoyed that day a lot."
He saw the Irish play earlier in the year too, but as a visitor of Michigan State's, a school he camped with over the summer.
"Michigan State, I saw them play Notre Dame. It was one of the first games of the season. It was a great atmosphere. It was a night game as well, so it was great to be there."
