Dalvin Warmack has been a key to Blue Springs’ run to the Missouri Class 6 Championship Game. With over 2,000 yards rushing in his first year as a starter, he is a frontrunner for the Simone Award, given to the top player in Kansas City. Get the latest from the Wildcats RB just before the title game…
Blue Springs (MO) junior
Dalvin Warmack
has run for 2,098 yards and 38 touchdowns in 2012. Entering today’s State Championship Game, his ability to add to those totals will be key for the Wildcats’ chances to defeat a very good Francis Howell squad. The Class 6 title game is set for 5:30 PM at the Edwards Jones Dome in St. Louis, a place Head Coach Kelly Donahoe’s team seemed destined for through much of the regular season. Talking with Warmack the night before, the focus was clearly on reaching the ultimate goal. “It would mean the world to me to win this game for the seniors,” Warmack said. “Knowing I’m playing in the biggest game of my career so far, its nerve wracking, but pleasing to know all the hard work we put in paid off.” Warmack said he has spent extra time this week to his opponent’s defense, specifically how they bring pressure versus the passing game. “I’ve paid a lot more attention to our blocking schemes, and to learning the Francis Howell blitz,” he said, seeming to go over the Vikings’ pressure package again in his head. “I’ve watched twice as much film this week.” The 12-1 Wildcats will face a Francis Howell squad that also reached the championship game with a single loss. However, the Vikings will make their first title game appearance against a Blue Springs squad that last won it in 2003. As the focal point of one of the top programs in Missouri, Warmack was matter of fact when asked if he would be able to sleep the night before the biggest game yet in his prep career. “Most likely, no.”
