Brown Finds a Home at EMU

Indianapolis Warren Central (Ind.) senior offensive lineman Dwayne Brown makes a commitment.

Dwayne Brown didn't need the entire weekend to make his decision, as he committed to Eastern Michigan on Saturday in the midst of his official visit.

"Going there with the team last night, I saw all the O-Linemen were similar and cool, were fun, and some of the commits like the quarterback they have coming in, he was here and they were all cool when I was talking to some of the recruits."

Brown comes from one of the best schools in one of the best high school conferences in the Midwest, and he saw similarities between the coaching staff he played for at Warren Central and the men who will coach him in college.

"I really like Coach English and Coach Anderson and Coach Hart. Talking to [Warriors head coach] Coach Tutsie, I know they're going to make me better. Breaking down film with Coach Anderson, he reminded me of Coach Barclay, my position coach at Warren. It's a good fit, I like to run the ball and they're really good at running the ball."

As for his exact position, Brown said, "We haven't really talked about all that yet," but he will likely project to guard.

Brown, at one point, had several offers from a couple of MAC schools, but those were taken off the table and he was left with some uncertainty late in the process. When the Eagles offered on Friday, it was validation for a kid who knew he could play at the FBS level.

"It feels like a weight lifted off my shoulders. I had some other officials scheduled, but they were like 1-AA schools and I felt like I'm a D1 player and I can play with anyone in the nation. Getting an offer here, with the coaching staff they have, I know they were 2-10, but I think we're going to turn it around."

And Brown is now part of the class he believes will be the cornerstone of that turnaround.

"We have a corner from Cass Tech, also the [Lawrence Central] defensive ends are here, so the 2013 class is really good. I know we have the talent and we will work hard to turn it around."
