Drew Crawford's senior season is over. The forward will undergo surgery on his shoulder to repair a torn labrum which he suffered in September.
It may not be the end of Crawford's Northwestern career, as he will seek a medical hardship waiver.
"While it obviously hurts to lose a player of Drew's caliber, it provides an opportunity for his teammates to step up and contribute," Northwestern head coach Bill Carmody said.
Crawford endured uncharacteristic struggles during the young season, averaging jut 13.5 points per game.
Northwestern (7-3) is already playing without expected starter Jershon Cobb. Without Crawford, another key void must be filled.
