Scheel Commits to Iowa Publisher
Posted Jan 20, 2013

Iowa landed it's second big in-state commitment in just over a week Sunday when Union High of La Porte City junior Jay Scheel pulled the trigger for the Hawkeyes.

Union High of La Porte City junior Jay Scheel verbally committed to Iowa on Sunday per his tweet and several congratulatory tweets from several Class of 2013 Hawkeye pledges on twitter.

And this came from his high school teammate, Tanner Heckt:

Cedar Falls offensive lineman Ross Pierschbacher verbally committed to Iowa last Saturday. One of the first calls he made after his selection was to fellow 2014 standout, Scheel.

"I talked to him (Saturday) morning," Pierschbacher said in the story. "He can speak for himself and I'm not going to pressure anybody. I just want to encourage guys that want to be a part of it to come join me, especially the in-state guys. They've been around Iowa football and know what it's about.

"Hopefully with my commitment, they see that things are going in the right way still and that we're not backtracking."

Scheel, a is attending Iowa junior day on Sunday. We hope to have more from him on his commitment later in the day.
