Akinmoladun's grandmother was provided a wheelchair to get around the Lincoln campus.
"When I commit, It's going to be how I feel around the people there," Akinmoladun said. "Nebraska, they took my family under their wings while I enjoyed the visit and got to focus on it. They made it seem like we were part of their family."
"My Final 3 I really don't know yet," he said. "That's just my Top 3. I'm still open to other schools recruiting me."
New suitors likely need to hurry if they want to get into the mix with Akinmoladun.
"I'm hoping to have my Final 3 by July 4," he said. "I'm looking to commit in early August."
Akinmoladun also has visited Kansas State. The big 6-foot-5, 238-pound target from Grandview Senior High was supposed to be at Iowa this coming weekend but had to cancel the trip.
"I want to go see Iowa but right now we're having car problems," Akinmoladun said. "The sooner I get to Iowa, the sooner I can really compare the Top 3 schools."
In addition to his desire for a family atmosphere, Akinmoladun is researching the physics departments at the three schools.
"Academics also are important," he said. "I need to see which one has the best program."
Akinmoladun shared his thoughts on each of his Top 3 schools (alphabetical order):
Iowa: They have a great tradition. They have a great reputation of putting tight ends in the NFL. They have a good coaching staff. It just seems like a really good place to go to.
Kansas State: Kansas State has a winning reputation. Their motto is "Family." Again, they have great coaches. It's close to home.
Nebraska: They also have great coaches. One thing that really stood out for me was that on my visit is that they took care of my family while I was there. They really showed they cared.
