There were a few moments late in the second round of the 2006 NFL draft where some Iowa fans wondered if Minnesota might go ahead and select Abdul Hodge, dreaming of he and Greenway being united at the pro level since they were inseparable at the college level.
That didn't happen, but something else did; Hodge and A.J. Hawk of Ohio State, two the three best linebackers in the Big Ten over the course of the last two years, will be wearing the same uniform with Greenway working as the outsider.
Hodge was selected in the third round and was the 67th overall pick, a great value, since many experts had him going late in the first round into the second round.
One of the best tacklers in Iowa history, Hodge didn't run great times in the 40 yard dash this winter and spring. But when he puts on the pads, his instincts allow how to take a path to ball carriers and shed blocks that faster players do not have.
The great news for those living in the state of Iowa is that you won't need the NFL's Direct TV package to watch these former Hawks play, as the Packers and Vikings are regularly played on network television.
