Erique Robertson, a defensive athlete out of Maple Heights, Ohio received a scholarship offer from the Iowa Hawkeyes this week, and responded by immediately scheduling an official visit for December 1st.
Robertson, who had previously been in Iowa City on an unofficial visit in October, said he hopes to spend some more time seeing what Iowa City and the Hawkeyes can offer this weekend.
"I just want to see how the city is, how the coaches are," Robertson said. "Just to feel out the atmosphere, how it feels, how they do things how there."
Robertson also has an official visit scheduled for October 8th to investigate Illinois, who has also offered.
The attention started for Erique Robertson when he spent the summer on the Ted Ginn Sr. Bus Tour, visiting many schools during summer camp time. With so many talented athletes, how can Robertson distinguish himself?
"I just love going to the ball, showing them that I have the skills to play," he said. "It gives me an advantage to show them my maneuverability, my hips, things like that."
That nose for the ball paid off for the 5-11, 210-pound athlete, as he reported nearly 120 tackles, to go with 14 tackles for loss, 4 sacks, and an interception during his senior season.
Robertson said he will take two visits and then likely make a decision between his top two schools, Iowa and Illinois.
We'll check back in with Erique after his visit to let you all know his impressions of Iowa City.
