"I committed to Iowa yesterday," Champ told HR on Sunday afternoon. "I wanted to make my decision before Christmas, but didn't want to make my mind up right after my official visit there (11-22). I wanted to give it some time first."
Champ was asked why he chose the Hawkeyes.
"Obviously, they're a program on the rise," he said. "They have a proven head coach in coach (Kirk) Ferentz now that he's in his fourth season and I really fell in love with the entire staff. I also like the way they utilize their athletes. And since my family's originally from there, it's a perfect fit."
Davis said the Iowa coaches will give him at look at tailback, fullback and in their H-back formations. He also said he will not be taking any more visits, but will play in the Coca Cola All-Star game to be played at North Richland Hills on January 25th.
Davis is waiting today (as many of us are) for one other little item to be determined.
"I really hope Iowa goes to the Rose Bowl," he said. "It's really a little weird not to have a Big Ten team playing a Pac-Ten team in that game."
